Biography
Sherif M. Elwageeh, PhD, FHEA
Assistant Professor and Chairperson of Interior Design department, College of Engineering and Design, Kingdom University, Kingdom of Bahrain. I was awarded my Ph.D. degree in Urban Design in 2006 from Cairo University, Egypt. My Research interests include Man-Environment Relationship (MER), Urban Design, Urban Simulation, Virtual Reality, Tangible interaction, Multisensory design, Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Architectural Education, Qualitative Research Methods, and Content Analysis. I have 25 years of experience in private higher education. I Joined the Egyptian Housing and Building Research Centre (HBRC) after graduation and participated in many research projects that are targeting Housing challenges and strategies in Egypt. I published a book entitled: “Urban Design and Users’ Preferences – Virtual Reality Simulation as a tool to test users’ preferences for Urban Design Alternatives”, in 2010. In 2019, I got a fellowship of UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA). In 2020, I was nominated to chair the NQF validation panel for the Bachelor of Architecture program offered by University of Bahrain. During my chairmanship of the Interior Design Department, I facilitated the international accreditation of the Bachelor’s in Interior Design program by the Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID) in July 2023.
