Biography
Dr. Sadia Syed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Kingdom University, Bahrain, with over a decade of experience in academia and research. She holds a Ph.D. in Cloud Computing and Data Security from Vikrama Simhapuri University, India, where she received the UGC National Fellowship for Research (2013-2018).
Her research spans Data Science, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Machine Learning, with publications in esteemed journals. Dr. Sadia Syed’s current projects include enhancing skin cancer detection using 3D Total Body Photography (3D-TBP). She recently presented her paper, “Exploiting Big Data and Machine Learning for Enhanced Flash Flood Prediction in Wadi Systems” (Paper ID: 2069), at the Eighth International Symposium on Flash Floods in Wadi Systems at UAE University.
In addition to her research, Dr. Syed is dedicated to teaching and professional development. She has trained students and professionals in data science, Python programming, and cloud computing, guiding them to earn industry-recognized certifications. Her teaching focuses on practical skills and real-world problem-solving, equipping students to effectively apply theoretical knowledge. Many of her students at KU have successfully earned certifications, thanks to her hands-on training approach.
A strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM, Dr. Sadia Syed inspires the next generation of computer scientists, helping them build the skills necessary to succeed in a dynamic field like computer science. Her interdisciplinary approach continues to have a lasting impact on both her students and the academic community.
