Since May 2014, Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes has been serving as a Vice-President of the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF), the voice of independent producers of energy from renewable sources and the umbrella organization of national renewable energy associations. From 2010-2014 he was EREF’s President for 4 years but could not be re-elected according to EREF’s statutes.
Since 2006, he has been a Board Member of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE) and BEE’s representative in the Board of EREF. He is BEE’s spokesperson for European and international affairs.
Representing EREF and BEE, and as a senior expert, he is cooperating with international networks (REN21, WREC/WREN) and institutions (IRENA, IEA-RIAB). He is an advisor for stable and reliable policies to facilitate the transition towards a renewables-based energy system.
From June 2012 until the association had to be dissolved in March 2014, he also served as the President of the Renewable Energy Council (EREC), the umbrella association of Europe’s renewable energy sector.
